Upside down Whistling Kite, thought it was injured, but was watching me take photos!! Hung upside down for at least 5 minutes from one talon. Another bird circling above. I suspect they were a pair. Interesting behaviour.
A net-casting spider with its blue rectangular net which was loosely slung from the front legs. The spider was prepared to get its meal at this stage.
Pics 2 & 3 are of the spider at day time - it was magical to see the blue net which she would have made in the evening for some supper that night. Hoping I'd be able to get an action shot next time and a shot of those enormous eyes !
This tiny green spider was picked with some flowers and ended up in a drop of water on the sink. I was surprised that all it seemed to want to do was to stand on its head! If it had walked two steps it would have been out of the water! I wondered why that behaviour. Was it to keep the spiracles on the abdomen out of the water?? I carried it outside on a knife and let it go. The second last photo shows the markings under the abdomen.
This Leaf cutter bee kicked dirt out of this pot plant of cacti (see photo 3). Photo 2 shows her flying towards her nest in the pot carrying a piece of raspberry leaf. Photo 1 shows her entering her nest with the piece of leaf.
