Plants appearing as if burnt as you pass. Burnt by sun or chemical. Looking to the underside of the leaves though they are shiny as if wet or lacquered but with tufts as if black insects stuck on while sticky. The leaves aren’t sticky however.
I thought some spray from roadside spraying may have burnt leaves, but some along the Wark Creek have the whole tree with dry leaves
Normal colouring but two sets of white zigzag lines on wings, one more obvious than the other, slightly more pointed ends to outer margins of hind wing. About 2.5 cm wingspan. Dark rose pink merging in to cream edges on wings. Photo to come.
Found sleeping on a poster on the wall in the visitor centre at Lake St Clair. Later found on the floor of the main walkway through the centre & when moved to safety exhibited lovely defensive behaviour: wings flexed right back; body with wasp-like colouring revealed, arched body as though about to sting.
