Square-tailed Kite

Description

Little eagle was gliding around the open grass kind and wooded area in circles, then joined what looked like a mate over near highpoint. It didn't make any dives for food that I saw. Video also taken, but it wouldn't upload

David Francis starred this.

  1. Andrew Allen  I don’t think that’s a Little Eagle. It looks like a Square-tailed Kite, possibly. One was reported over Royal Park very recently. An incredible record.

  2. David Francis  My birdbook says that the Little Eagle soars on flat wings but these are upswept- like a Square-tailed Kite. Also the fingers on the wings are very long/prominent, again suggesting STK.
