David Francis Muscidae spp. species id suggested
David Francis General appearance not unlike Australophyra sp. and others.
David Francis For example - http://www.bowerbird.org.au/observations/48380
David Francis Could be Australophyra rostrata (Black Carrion-fly).
Andrew Brown Could be it "small dark blue fly is primarily a carrion breeder" from http://agriculture.vic.gov.au/agriculture/pests-diseases-and-weeds/pest-insects-and-mites/sheep-blowflies-in-victoria It's a challenge to find good descriptions of many insects!
David Francis Yes, Lucilia cuprina also has the same appearance. It probably needs the fine structures to be observed to determine the genus and species. Perhaps put it back to Muscidae sp.
