This moth is about 2mm in length and from the group known as pigmy moths. A characteristic, besides their tiny size, are the eye-caps. They are extremely difficult to photograph even with a good macro lens.
At present, Australian Faunal Directory has this moth listed in the category of Species Inquirenda. However, it has been described as Mamestra dictyota by Lower in 1902. It is in the subfamily of Noctuinae, Tribe Hadenini.
