About 10mm long. Under lights on a vehicle at the DNRP.

These beetles were identified as Altica pagana by Ken Walker, but have been identified as Diachus auratus by Stephen Thorpe. I feel Diachus auratus is more likely correct as the beetles shone a bronze, golden colour - they were definitely not blue.

This is possibly the most commonly seen leaf beetle and the larvae are mostly quite distinctive for each species. Peter Kelly used to breed them, therefore some good life cycle images are available on this site.
